A STATEMENT FROM OUR EDITOR IN CHIEF

"I started 'The Crown Jewel' during the Christmas of 2022. Although I've always known that I one day wanted to produce some tangible work of my views, beliefs, passions and values in a fashion sense, the idea of specifically a magazine actually came to me while watching 'The September Issue', a documentary about the behind the scenes at Vogue. I looked at the screen, pointed and said 'I want to do that.'

At that time I was only 3 months into my first big girl job in the fashion industry, the operations coordinator and assistant at a luxury womenswear brand. And even though I've been a fashion lover since childhood, it was in this position that I really got to experience firsthand the actual behind the scenes of fashion. Yet I constantly found myself longing for a bigger community, people who shared (and opposed) my views and could relate to my position as a newbie in the industry

When I originally started the magazine, I immediately thought to target and connect with those who looked like me and who had the same experiences I do. I thought I would provide insight and knowledge that those who look like me may not ever get to know. However I found myself struggling to really connect with what I was doing and it felt more like a chore than anything. I found that at the heart of it all, I wasn't connecting to something bigger than social constructs, bigger than shared experiences. I really just wanted to reach in and touch people's souls and connect on the beauty that is life. So I went through a rebrand and shifted gears.

The Crown Jewel Magazine is more than a magazine, it is simply a community. A place where young individuals who love life, fashion and creation can come together and create together. And that has been my driving force for the magazine."
